Trip

I'm not sure if I ever mentioned it in earlier entries here, but a while back I was invited to go to my cousin's wedding. Which is normally a day spent dressing nice, meeting people you don't know well (or at all), and having a meal that's anywhere from "better than average" to "a culinary experience." Except I live in Washington State, and my cousin lives back in New Jersey.

So, in a month I'm going on vacation. Once again, no big deal. I've done it before. Except...

This time I'm going to do a BIG chunk of it alone. Every vacation or trip in the past has been with someone. School trips. Family trips. Guided tours. Going to a convention. Going somewhere to meet and/or stay with friends.

Not this time.

After the wedding, I'm staying a few extra days in the NJ area as my parents fly back. I plan to check out some of my old haunts and see how they changed (did you know I grew up in New Jersey?) and do some touristy things in NYC. I definitely want to check out Ground Zero, at an absolute minimum. And then I'm taking a train down to my state's evil twin, Washington DC, where I'll be checking out the monuments.

No friends to meet. No guided tour. No family, not after the wedding. It's going to be an interesting week!
