What makes this particularly irritating is that it's yet another expense I hadn't expected. I'd spent roughly $1000 on my vacation in June, between hotel and airfare, food and tourism. I spent another $1000 on fixing my car three or four weeks back. And I spent at least $500 at the convention and the week previous, between the hotel room and touristy stuff as I showed Nikon around Seattle. Now I have another $400 or more I need to spend on a new computer. So out of $3000 spent in the last three months, literally half of it wasn't budgeted for. I'd expected to be large-expense-free until January, when my car insurance needs renewing.
I can afford it, thank goodness. But I can't keep affording it. Luckily, this particular expense, like the car, isn't one that comes up often. But it's all hitting at once, and it hurts.
